Why join?
Hello
We encourage everyone to learn new things, to take exercise and to make a social contribution.
That’s why we run three life-enhancing challenges:
-“The All in One” for over-55s, inspired in part by The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for the young and calling for achievements in learning, physical activity and social contribution
-“The Charities Challenge” for all ages to build community or for personal development and
-“The Loughborough Challenge” for those aged 25 to 54 who experience issues of mental health or of mental / physical impairment – accessible also through www.theloughboroughchallenge.org.
You can learn more about all of these challenges below.
Not challenge-minded? Not a problem. We have also brought together multiple links to websites with ideas for:
- low-cost learning opportunities
- rewarding volunteer positions
- ideas and opportunities for physical activity.
Our “bank” of Members’ learning, volunteering and physical activity experiences – Hub Tales – will give you ideas and inspiration. We would truly appreciate your contribution.
Full Membership – linked to eligibility for The All in One – is for over-55s. Associate Membership – for anyone taking part in a Charities Challenge – is for people of any age without restriction. Loughborough Membership is for those who are taking part in The Loughborough Challenge. We are a not-for-profit organisation.
We are here for our Members. Please do register. There’s no cost. See what’s possible.
Our Challenges:
We offer three challenges:
The All In One
A challenge for over-55s based on the three elements of learning, staying active and making a social contribution. DofE is all about youth. This is our version for the over-55s – an all-round structure and motivation for fun and self-development with its related health benefits.
The Charities Challenge™
The Charities Challenge enables people of all ages (Members and non-Members alike) to build a community – even of friends and family – around their own challenge, publicise through us and receive Certificates of achievement. It’s suitable also for one-to-one working, with ultra-personal challenges and external accreditation.
For our Full Members (over 55) and our Loughborough Members we run our own “Home Charities Challenge” as a gentle version of The All in One / The Loughborough Challenge. It’s a great way to get yourself going – perhaps with friends?
Why not form a social group, design and run your own Charities Challenge?
The Loughborough Challenge
The Loughborough Challenge is for those aged 25 to 54 (so too young for The All in One) who self-identify as experiencing issues of mental health or of mental / physical impairment. The rules are identical to those of The All in One and so The Loughborough Challenge offers the same ideal structure and motivation for fun and self-development with its related health benefits.
Our Programmes
“Bridge to Retirement”
We encourage employers to offer firm foundations for productive and healthy retirement. Please visit our ‘Employers‘ page to find out more.
“Generations Together”
We ask events organisers to encourage participation by people of all ages. We encourage inter-generational communities through The Charities Challenge. Inter-generational contact is good for us all.
“Social Prescribing”
The Challenge Hub can assist as a resource for Link Workers and as a support and motivator for the patients themselves.
